All contact persons for Sessions have been notified regarding their session so please contact your session organizer if they have not yet let you know the status of your abstract.

 

The 16th research conference of the Nordic Network on Disability Research invites researchers, policy makers, activists and practitioners to Reykjavík, Iceland on 10-12 May 2023 to share scholarship and ideas, and to strengthen collaboration in the field of disability research within and beyond the Nordic countries.

The organising committee calls for contributions to the conference in the form of single presentations and sessions consisting of either 4-5 or 8-10 presentations. Presentations are expected to cover a wide range of topics related to the lives and experiences of people with disabilities in different fields of societies around the world. This includes but is not limited to aspects of social, political, economic and cultural participation in the present and past; policy and practice; and promotion and protection of the human rights of people with disabilities. Contributions are expected to have a common ground within the multidisciplinary field of disability studies and to stimulate conversations between participants by drawing on empirical, theoretical and policy and practice oriented approaches.

For the 16th research conference, the organising committee places specific emphasis on strenghtening dialogue and relations with Deaf studies and adjacent fields concerned with the lives of d/Deaf people around the world.

The abstract submission platform on nndr2023.is is now open and ready to receive abstracts for single presentations or entire sessions. If you wish to submit an abstract, please read carefully our guidelines for abstract submission. Deadline for abstract submission is 25 November 2022. Session and Abstract submission guidelines

Abstract - single oral or poster presentation

Single oral presentations will be arranged into sessions with an overarching theme by the conference organisers based on the content of the abstracts. Poster presentations will be exhibited in a central location at the conference venue.

 

After login into the abstract submission system please follow the steps of the process. Provide the following information:

 

  1. Name and affilliation(s) of the first author
  2. Names and affilliation(s) of co-authors
  3. Indication of the presenter who will also act as corresponding author
  4. Choose oral or poster presentation
  5. Title of the presentation
  6. Abstract not exceeding 300 words
  7. 3-5 keywords

Guidelines for abstract submission in sign language

Session

To form a session, all of its presentations need to share a common research topic and/or perspective. If you wish to apply for a session, the chair of the session is expected to submit a session as well as a session presentation abstract for each presentation in the session.

 

The conference organisers allow for applying for either a session of minimum 4 and maximum 5 presentations, or a session of minimum 8 and maximum 10 presentations.

Session abstract

After login into the abstract submission system, choose ‚session abstract‘ and follow the steps of the process. Provide the following information:

  1. Name and affilliation(s) of the first chair of the session who will also act as corresponding author for the session
  2. Names and affilliation(s) of co-chairs
  3. Title of the session
  4. Abstract not exceeding 300 words
  5. Number of presentations in the session (4- 5, 8-10)

Session presentation abstract

After login into the abstract submission system, choose ‚session presentation‘ and follow the steps of the process. Provide the following information:

 

  1. Name and affilliation(s) of the first author
  2. Names and affilliation(s) of co-authors
  3. Indication of the presenter who will also act as corresponding author
  4. Title of the session of which the presentation is a part
  5. Title of the presentation
  6. Abstract not exceeding 300 words
  7. 3-5 keywords

In case you wish to submit single presentation AND session abstracts

If you wish to submit a single presentation abstract as well as abstracts for an entire session, you need to register yourself as user for both submission systems. As the systems for single presentations and entire sessions are formally separate, you should register yourself to the systems using two different usernames. The e-mail address for both user registrations may be the same.

Please note:

Although we have made efforts to maximise accessibility of the abstract submission system, there may be instances where persons who wish to submit an abstract experience difficulties using the system. If this is the case for you, please contact us at NNDR2023@sena.is so that we can make arrangements for you to submit your abstract outside of the abstract submission system.

Presentation Information

Please note the following for the presentations:

  • Oral presentations:
    • Should be slides in format 16:9
    • Can be Power Point, PDF and Keynote
  • Poster presentations:
    • Poster size should be in portrait format 120 cm height x 90 cm width – A0.
    • There will be provided one vertical, freestanding display board and tape for hanging your poster.
